£19,312 to £21,748
Full time – 36.25 hours per week
We are recruiting an Assistant Green Keeper to help maintain parkland golf courses in the attractive setting of Towneley Hall & Park in the rural outskirts of Burnley. The municipal courses have an excellent reputation for quality and are managed in partnership with Burnley Leisure.

Your duties will cover all green keeping and horticultural work, which will include grass cutting, setting up the course, identifying pests and diseases, applying fertilisers, pesticides and topdressing and other gardening and cleaning duties. You will also operate and maintain a range of machinery and supervise junior colleagues, apprentices and volunteers that are assigned to work with you.

You must have an NVQ level 2 in Green Keeping & Sports Turf Management (or equivalent
qualification) and have experience of maintaining golf courses to a high standard. You should also be able to operate the full range of golf course machinery and identify and control the main pests and diseases. You must be able to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner, work as part of a team and be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions.

Progression onto grade 5 will be dependent on obtaining a NVQ level 3 qualification in Green Keeping & Sports Turf Management (or equivalent) and being able to demonstrate competence in all aspects of the role.

We offer a 36.25 hour working week, family friendly terms and conditions, excellent training
opportunities and a career average pension scheme.
