The role  

The Print and Mail Supervisor will be responsible for the delivery of the Print and Mail Room on behalf of Gravesham Borough Council. Directly managing a team of Print and Mail Assistants the Print and Mail Supervisor will ensure that print and mail tasks are completed professionally and efficiently by planning and organising workloads. In addition the post holder will be responsible for carrying out appraisals, one to one meetings, managing leave and absences.  

The ideal candidate will be a clear and effective communicator who is confident in liaising with internal and external partners on print and mail queries both verbally and in written communication. The post holder should have experience in managing print and mail contractors and strive for ongoing improvement in printing facilities including tendering print and mail equipment.  

You will work closely with the Facilities Officer to prepare the Print and Mail service budget and carry out regular monitoring of the Print and Mail budget throughout the year.  

Essential qualifications/experience  

Knowledge of print production processes including the use of multi function printers and copiers, working knowledge and proficient in general software packages, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). 

A strong, clear communicator who can confidently interact with colleagues, members and external contacts at all levels both verbally and in writing. 

Experience of liaising with and managing printing and mail contracts and contractors. 

Good people management and customer service skills. 

Good understanding of the data protection act and how this is important within the Mail and Print room environment. 

Ability to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the business. 

Previous experience of working within a Reprographics and/or Print and Mail Room environment. 

Previous experience in supervising staff and organising workloads. 

Ability to pay significant attention to detail, troubleshoot and problem solve. 

Experience of managing budgets. 

Have the ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a team. 

Forward thinking approach to developing, improving and promoting changes to services and functions.   

Desirable qualifications/experience 

First Aid Qualification. 

Full Clean Driving License. 

Knowledge of using design software and PlanetPress.
