Croydon Council administers some 1600+ tree preservation orders and 21 conservation areas across the Borough and has an annual turnover of around 450 tree works applications. Moreover, we also engage in pre and post planning application processes, ensuring that schemes comply with planning policies affecting trees and other landscape features.
Your caseload will be varied to reflect the diverse nature of the borough and will include dealing with enquiries from the public, considering tree works applications, making and reviewing tree preservation orders and providing arboriculture observations – linked to submitted planning applications and pre application engagement.
We are keen to hear from you assuming that you would like to be part of a hard-working and vibrant development management service and have some office-based experience of working for a local authority or tree consultancy, are highly motivated, willing to work as part of a team, are able to prioritise work, have good communication skills and can work under pressure with limited supervision. You should have a recognised qualification in arboriculture or a degree in an associated discipline. You should have previous work related experience of dealing with the public and being able to give advice on landscape schemes would also be an advantage.
