Do you feel passionate about supporting young people to achieve their very best?

Are you looking for opportunities to gain experience within a dynamic and innovative team?

At Surrey our Children's Services are on a rapid change journey, with new management, innovative approaches and considerable energy. We are determined that children, young people and their families will be at the centre of all we do and are changing our model of work to one which supports excellent children's services, with Family Resilience - early help and prevention, at the heart of our journey. Family Safeguarding, an innovative and highly effective approach, developed in Hertfordshire will be central to our new model.

We are looking for creative individuals to join Surrey Children's Service to help make a difference to our young people's lives. You will be supporting social workers in the team; working intensively and in a planned way with the young person, foster carers, parents and other agencies and services.

Supporting children and families to achieve their potential will be central to all you do. You will undertake direct work with children such as life story work, support them in their home and you will need to be able to work in partnership and use your skills to be able to engage with children in a meaningful way.

As a member of our team, you will be working alongside partners, agencies and the voluntary sector to support our looked after children in the community. Surrey Children's Service provides training to ensure competence and professional development. We will ensure that you receive a full induction and monthly supervision so you can undertake your duties being the best you can be.

To meet the criteria for this position, you must be able to clearly evidence:

Excellent customer care skills and a passion for working with people
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with families/carers, children and support social workers to manage risk and affect positive change.
Experience of working with children and young people in a paid or voluntary area and evidence of how this has impacted in positive outcomes, or an interest in the welfare and care of children and young people
Excellent written and verbal skills

Surrey Children's Service believes that the welfare of children and their families is paramount. Team members are enthusiastic and supportive, committed to the provision of a quality service for children and their carers and we are looking for people with similar qualities to join us to continue the good work already being done.

For an informal discussion please contact Heather Brown by email at heather.brown@surreycc.gov.uk.

We look forward to receiving your application.
