Would you like a chance to join an exciting and talented team working across the two primary schools that make up the Benfield and Hangleton Federation.

We have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice in our Caretaking team.  The apprenticeship would be working towards the Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.

Property maintenance operative / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education

The Department is responsible for safety, security and cleanliness of school premises. This includes basic maintenance around the schools premises.

The Property Maintenance Operative  at level 2 is run by The Chichester College Group at their Crawley College Campus who is responsible for supporting you with your learning and carrying out assessments. The course has skills knowledge and behaviours that you are expected to learn and apply in the workplace. Your work experience will be linked to the standard (link above). You will receive additional support from a nominated mentor, throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship.

 

About the role

Apprentices will gain knowledge to ensure that buildings are kept in good condition by keeping electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment in working order. They undertake preventative and reactive maintenance on buildings to maintain the appearance of the interior and exterior appropriately.

Apprentices without certificate evidence of level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completing training and you may be required to take an English and Maths assessment prior to a formal offer being made. 

For Level 2 - For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualification are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

In order to apply for an apprenticeship at Brighton & Hove City Council, you must have been ordinarily resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years on the first day of the apprenticeship (but if a non-citizen of the EEA then this must not have been for educational purposes) or have some other residency eligibility status – See Annex A – apprenticeship Funding Rules.
