Camden and Islington Public Health is a unique service that forms a key part of both Councils, and leads the way in improving the health and wellbeing of the boroughs’ populations and reducing health inequalities.
This post is part of the Public Health Knowledge, Intelligence and Performance (KIP) team, which specialises in the management and analysis of qualitative information (Knowledge) and quantitative epidemiology/statistics (Intelligence & Performance). The remit of the team is to turn health data and information into knowledge and intelligence that underpins policy decisions to improve population health and reduce inequalities.
About the role
As part of our established specialist Public Health Knowledge, Intelligence and Performance team (consisting of health and care analysts from both quantitative and qualitative research backgrounds), the Knowledge and Information Officer will work with a range of partner organisations, communities and residents to develop the evidence base of qualitative information on health and wellbeing in Camden and Islington. The role will have a specific focus on gathering, analysing, interpreting and presenting qualitative health information, contributing to a wide spectrum of public health needs assessments and strategies. You will have major input into the development of public health policies, projects and programmes.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual, with experience of working in qualitative research. You will be educated to a postgraduate degree or have equivalent experience in qualitative research or public health; have proven experience of developing and delivering robust qualitative research and evaluations; have a good insight into engaging marginalised and socially excluded groups; and excellent communication, negotiating and project management skills. * Please note: the post-holder will be employed by London Borough of Islington. However, they will be expected to work across both Camden (nearest station Kings Cross/St Pancras) and Islington (nearest station Highbury & Islington).
About the recruitment process
Following shortlisting, the selection process will comprise of an assessment and panel interview.
