Participation Lead

Salary: Starting from £39,880 to £43,857 p.a.

Grade: Grade 8

Hours: 37 hours per week 

Place of work: Portland House

The role

This is a fabulous opportunity for anyone experienced in and passionate about participation.  It forms a new role that has been created within our Communities Directorate that includes wellbeing, housing and the environment.

We are a forward thinking organisation that is committed to building a strong culture and skill set around asset based working and community participation.  This role is fundamental to our strategy: Platforms for our Places and will develop a strong participation culture across our teams; building the knowledge, skills and creativity of our teams, to embed participation in their practices.  

We will need you to shape policy and practice around participation in ways that are inclusive for our communities using an Asset Based Community Development approach.

Reporting directly to the Head of Wellbeing you will lead a community of practice (involving officers from different teams) to embed this work.  Whilst this work is based in the Councils, we fully expect you to be deeply connected with and credible to our communities and voluntary sector.

You will need to be passionate about all things to do with communities, people, places and be a skilled relationship-maker. You must also be highly knowledgeable, skilled and creative in relation to participation and ABCD principles and practices. 

You will be an enabler for our teams and not the person who does all of our participation; growing capabilities and setting the direction for our work.
