An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen in Trading Standards to join the team as a Trading Standards Inspector or Enforcement Officer (dependant on skills and qualifications). The work that Trading Standards carries out is varied and interesting with no two days ever the same.

You could be assisting a resident who has been subjected to a doorstep cold caller, investigating a complaint about counterfeit goods, conducting visits in connection of age restricted products, dealing with unsafe products through to animal health & welfare with farmed livestock.

You will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player committed to delivering advice, inspections and enforcement to a high standard in a busy service. The role will involve investigating regulatory breaches, undertaking inspections, providing advice and assistance, undertaking project work and other interventions as directed. This could be through local, regional and national initiatives. Previous enforcement experience is required and knowledge of wider sanctions such as fraud and enforcement orders will be beneficial. You will need the ability to build a good rapport with businesses and consumers to be successful in this post. A willingness to undertake training is essential as development of staff is important to us to maintain competence.

We operate flexible working arrangements where agile working is encouraged and supported. A recognised qualification from the Chartered Trading Standards Institute including the DTS, DCA or DCATS or significant equivalent experience is necessary. For the post of Trading Standards Inspector, you will need to hold the statutory qualification to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures. A full driving licence and use of a car is essential.
