Specialist Housing Officer (Specialist Level 1)

This is a unique and varied role, working with Wokingham Borough Council’s (WBC’s) Local Housing Companies (LHCs) as well as WBC itself. You would be responsible for managing a patch comprising of various tenures including general needs, affordable, supported and key worker accommodation.

Our LHCs have developed and built the majority of the properties you would be managing, and WBC acts as a managing agent for these properties. You would also be expected to work flexibly across the rest of WBC’s housing service, when required.

You would be based within our specialist housing management team and would work closely with WBC staff as well as LHC staff to ensure that excellent joint working and collaboration is maintained.  
 
In this role, your duties would include: 

·         Delivering a personalised and responsive landlord service to tenants.

·         Being responsible for income collection and rent arrears management.

·         Attending handovers of new properties and reporting defects.

·         Undertaking income and expenditure assessments.

·         Attending viewings and signing up new tenants.

·         Carrying out new tenancy visits, general tenancy management and undertaking tenancy enforcement action where necessary in line with policy and procedure.

·         Investigating and resolving cases of ASB in line with policy and procedure.

·         Carrying out periodic inspections of communal areas as well as weekly compliance testing to ensure health and safety legislation is adhered to at all times.

·         Maintaining an excellent working relationship with officers from the LHCs.

·         Working flexibly as part of a wider housing management team.

About You 

We are looking for a knowledgeable social housing professional with substantial and demonstrable experience of managing social housing tenancies and experience of managing rental income collection is essential. Previous experience of Northgate is helpful but not essential. Professional qualifications in housing (e.g. CIH) are preferable but not essential.

·         Working with customers, colleagues and other professionals in a polite, respectful and supportive manner.
