We are recruiting an Administrative Support Officer to join the Children’s Services Safeguarding Unit. As a member of the team you will be responsible for a variety of tasks to assist the efficient running of the service by providing administrative support to Independent Reviewing Officers and Child Protection Advisors.
The Safeguarding Unit is responsible for reviewing children who are either on a Child Protection Plan or who are Looked After by East Sussex County Council. In addition, the Unit provides Quality Assurance and Safeguarding checks. The role is varied and fast paced, and we will make sure that you get all the training and support you need to succeed.
You will need to have experience and confidence working across a wide range of administrative tasks including information technology systems and administrating databases. The role involves uploading information onto the Local Authority's database system and spreadsheets, telephone contact with professionals and clients, the day to day administration of group mailboxes and team calendar events and setting up Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Child Reviews.
The role requires someone who can demonstrate tact and sensitivity in their administrative duties and tasks, dealing with some emotive and stressful situations, so the ability to manage this will be important. The Safeguarding Unit processes highly sensitive, personal information, you will be responsible for following standards and procedures for ensuring client confidentiality.
You will need to be a good communicator, liaising with a variety of professionals and other agencies at the forefront of our service. Strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential. Experience of organising formal meetings or events and a working knowledge of Children’s Services would be desirable.
There will be conflicting demands which will require you to manage your time, to organise and prioritise your workload to ensure deadlines are met. The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly is a key component for the success of the team.
You will have a passion for delivering excellent customer service and in return for your commitment we offer on-going training and development opportunities.
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
