As a Scrutiny Officer, you will:
Work with members, chief officers and stakeholders to lead the business of Scrutiny
with the objective of securing improvements in services, the efficient use of resources, and good governance in the delivery of service to the community and key stakeholders.
Support the head of overview and scrutiny in achieving excellence in the Council's
scrutiny work by providing quality input into the scrutiny review processes undertaken by the commissions, both administratively and being proactive in identifying appropriate material / sources to inform a scrutiny review.
With direction from the Head of Overview and Scrutiny, support the provision of a high quality secretariat for a number of scrutiny commissions (sub-committees), including the management of the constitutional process, research & advice and financial probity.
Whilst the role is a full time position based on a 36 hour week, you will need to be flexible to accommodate working in the evenings and at weekends within the basic working week, where practicable and necessary and within the boundaries of the Council's work/life balance policies. Please note, the post qualifies for Overtime or TOIL for evening / weekend meetings where more than 36 hours has been worked.
