Job introduction

We require 2 Early Years Practitioners to work in our busy nursery at Roundabout Nursery. We cater for babies from 12 weeks up to rising 5's. We would like you to be enthusiastic, caring and committed to the nurturing of young children. A sound knowledge of the EYFS is essential and a level 2 qualification or equivalent.

About the role

Roundabout Nursery is one of Brighton and Hove City Council Children’s Centre Nurseries. We operate five nurseries across the City and provide a high quality service for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm and have up to 86 spaces a day. 

We are looking for qualified Early Years Practitioners to join our team. Applicants must have experience of working with young children in an early years’ environment; experience of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); experience of meeting the individual needs of young children and their families; demonstrate a passion and commitment for providing high quality care and learning opportunities; be qualified to a minimum Level 2 in early years and childcare and have excellent communication skills.

Roundabout Nursery is located next door to Roundabout Children’s Centre, which has been purpose built to meet the needs of young children and their families. The nursery is open plan and provides children with lots of space to play and learn. We have large garden spaces where children can tend our chickens, grow vegetables, ride bikes and explore nature. We have a play- based approach to learning in a fun, happy and calm atmosphere.

We are proud of our staff who are qualified or working towards a qualification. All our staff share our passion for delivering a high standard of care to the children and provide exciting opportunities for the children to grow, learn and develop into confident young people.

The role involves being a key person for a group of children; building relationships; being an inspiration to the children; supporting attachment building; ensuring the children feel safe; planning activities; maintaining records; carrying out observations; assessing children and supporting growth and development.

We provide a full induction and training programme and ongoing support in the form of regular supervisions and appraisals. There may be opportunities for further ad-hoc hours if interested.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
