 Planning and Building Control

Planning Apprentice (P1454 and P1455) – Full Time 37 Hours – 20-month fixed term

 

£12,000 inclusive salary for year 1,

increasing to £16,822 (pro-rata for remaining 6 months) for year 2

 

St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short it is a great place to live and work.

 

We are looking for 2 Apprentices to join our busy Planning and Building Control department rotating through all areas of the department including Technical Support and Development Management, Building Control and Spatial Planning and Policy.  You will learn all aspects of the regulations and legislation of planning and building control, learn about values and behaviours and also work alongside the Council’s policies and procedures.  This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain the skills, knowledge and experience to begin your career in the Planning and Building Control field. 

 

Alongside this role, you will also be supported through a Business Administration Level 3 apprenticeship. 

 

The ideal candidate will be a keen team player with excellent communication and organisational skills.  As a minimum, you will hold GCSE (or equivalent) grades A*-C (4-9) in Maths and English.  A keen willingness to learn and develop is essential.  We are looking for an apprentice who can deliver his/her responsibilities efficiently and with integrity and demonstrates a positive attitude.
