HIGH STREET Heritage action zone project OFFICER

Principal Officer Grade 4 (£33,782 per annum)

Fixed Term to 31 March 2024

Barrow Borough Council has secured funding through the High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) for Duke Street, Barrow in Furness. This role will ensure the delivery of the Re:discover Barrow HAZ for this historic high street. The post is offered on a full time basis of 37 hours per week (Agile or flexible working is available).

 

We are looking for a Project Officer for our Re:discover Barrow Heritage Action Zone who will sit within the Policy Regeneration & Information Team, part of Development Services, to deliver heritage focussed projects including property improvements grants, public realm enhancements and a programme of events and activities to connect residents and visitors with the high street and its heritage. This post provides the opportunity to work alongside other ambitious regeneration projects the team are working on to shape and improve the Borough. With the HSHAZ and Town Deal funding confirmed and other projects in the pipeline this is a really exciting time for Barrow to use this investment to deliver a lasting legacy. You could be part of this.

 

You should have a degree, or equivalent, in Planning, Heritage & Conservation, Architecture or a related subject, with experience of advising on historic building and regeneration work You should be eligible for membership of a related professional body ( eg RTPI, IHBC, RICS etc), and have demonstrable experience of managing a large complex project.

 

You will have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with members of the public, colleagues and Members, and to work effectively with stakeholders. Good written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. You will be able to work effectively under pressure, observe deadlines and work successfully independently, and as part of a team.

 

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide information and advice in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement.

 

The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme and will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure.
