This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team responsible for deploying and supervising the waste management teams at West Lancashire Borough Council.
The successful post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the collection of waste is undertaken as scheduled and promoted to the residents of the Borough as well as keeping up to date with national waste strategy and policy. As part of a team, you will contribute towards the development of key service plans associated with refuse and recycling and waste minimisation (reduce, reuse and recycle).
We're looking for someone to be a positive member of the Place & Communities Directorate and to represent the Council at relevant operational meetings. You must also have knowledge of waste legislation and collections including the operation and use of refuse vehicles and loading equipment.
Purpose of role
•As part of a team, to provide leadership, management, delivery and the continued development of an efficient and effective Waste Management Service which discharges the councils' statutory duty as a waste collection authority.
•As part of a team, to provide frontline management of staff within the service, continually review and improve the performance of the service, driving out inefficiencies through improved methods of working, equipment and the use of technology.
•To promote the Waste Management Service whilst continuing to engage and educate service users on how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste materials under the control of the local authority
•To contribute towards the economic delivery and growth of the commercial waste collection service offered to local businesses.
