About the role
If you have just left school or college and are looking to start a career in supporting teaching and learning, Jarvis Brook School is offering the opportunity for you to work with the school and to provide support for your studies towards either a level 2 / 3 apprenticeship. The courses offered are an Early Years Practitioner Level 2 and an Apprentice Teaching Assistant Level 3.
The school will provide a mentor to help and guide the apprentice through all aspects of working at the school. The mentor will also provide support to ensure the candidate develops the skills and knowledge to successfully complete the course.
The successful candidate will:
- Be ready to work alongside teaching colleagues to ensure positive learning experiences for the children in their care
- Establish positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- Ensure children's safety and wellbeing
We will expect you to:
- Have a positive, approachable manner and a 'can do' attitude
- Be ready to learn from colleagues and work under direction and on your own initiative
- Believe passionately in the importance of education
Experience of working in a school environment through work experience/ work placements is desirable.
The level 2 post is a 12 month fixed contract and the level 3 post is for 18 months.
Working week: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9.00am-3.30pm.

National Minimum Wage for apprentices is £4.15 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
