This is an exciting time to join us here at Selby District Council as a Town Centres Regeneration Officer, coordinating a series of projects aimed at improving our town centres. We have a large and significant programme of activity to deliver over the next 5 years which needs someone with great skills in engaging a variety of stakeholders, who can understand the diversity and opportunities of our centres and contribute to the smooth running of the town centres in the Selby District.
Selby District Council’s vision is to make the District a great place to live, enjoy and grow. Our town centres are at the heart of this. The objective of the role is to coordinate and implement the Council’s town centre partnership Action Plans, which focus on developing the physical, digital, and cultural vitality of our town centres.
Working with the Council’s regeneration officers, and small business and tourism advisors, you will understand town trends and how these can be used to entice residents and visitors to get the best out of our public spaces. You will ensure that any town centre project activity is managed to an agreed budget, timelines, and quality standards.
The Town Centres Regeneration Officer will develop and co-ordinate the successful delivery of a range of community driven projects within the towns of Selby, Sherburn, and Tadcaster.
You will act as the focal point for all town centre activities and co-ordinate the delivery of the three town centre partnership action plans.
Based in the Council’s Economic Development and Regeneration Service, you will have a collaborative attitude, working closely with colleagues from across the Council to ensure successful and creative delivery of projects identified within the town centre action plans. You will be able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to meet objectives, and have excellent interpersonal, diplomacy and communication skills.
Applicants should be educated to GCSE Grades 4-9 or equivalent, with a good knowledge and working experience of current social, physical, and community regeneration issues.
The work will be based at the Council’s Civic Centre offices on Doncaster Road, but there will also be a requirement to work at other locations within Selby, Tadcaster, and Sherburn town centres. Therefore, it is essential you have a current driver’s licence as well as access to your own vehicle for work purposes, for which an allowance is payable.
