We can talk about domestic abuse Programme - Domestic Abuse Family Advocate

Wirral is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making Wirral a better place. The council and its partners have pledged to #BeTheDifference.

We’ve got ambitious targets to meet by 2025. To achieve everything we have promised to our residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities - #BeTheDifference.

We are aspiring for a future Wirral where as few people as possible are affected by domestic abuse, but those who are can get help to end the abuse and go on to live the lives they want.

Wirral Children’s Services has transformed some of its ambitions, ideas and principles into reality with another successful funding bid from the Department for Education to deliver a programme which seeks to improve the experiences of social care services for children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse, making it easier to access support and making sure there is help when they need it.

The “We can talk about Domestic abuse” programme is a one year programme which sees the creation of a specialist team of domestic abuse subject matter experts who understand the world of social care and the experiences of families affected by domestic abuse.

We are looking to appoint three Domestic Abuse Family Advocates to work with parents/families to improve communication, understanding and experience of social care processes to ensure they feel supported and empowered, whilst being appropriately safeguarded.

As an advocate you will be fundamental in helping to pass on your experiences, support and knowledge to families whilst working alongside other subject matter experts supporting social care practitioners.

We are looking for people who can act as a ‘voice’ and champion the views of parents affected by domestic abuse at social care meetings and work with families to ensure their views are heard.

By joining us, you will be part of a supportive and nurturing organisation, committed to developing and progressing our workforce so that they can achieve their ambitions and thrive.

If you think you can #BeTheDifference for children, young people and families, please join our team.

This is a one year fixed term post until January 2022.

For more information, please contact Hannah Myers, Performance and Improvement Manager: hannahmyers@wirral.gov.uk
