An opportunity has arisen for experienced Public Health Programme Coordinator's with demonstrable skills in the area of Health Protection to join the Halton Borough Council Public Health Team. This is a full time post initially on a fixed term contract for 12 months. There are 2 roles available with a focus on Testing and Vaccination.
As part of the public health team the post holder will be part of the local Covid-19 response team and will support the prevention of Covid-19 and respond to cases and outbreaks. They will be responsible for managing any consequences of local outbreaks in complex settings and amongst vulnerable populations, linking with the NHS Track and Trace programme. The post-holder will work closely with the Health Protection Lead and Outbreak Coordinator to ensure that plans are in place, are tested and can be effectively implemented to respond to, and manage the consequences of, any Covid-19 outbreaks in complex settings, or amongst vulnerable population groups.
The post-holder will oversee and coordinate the various aspects of COVID-19 prevention and preparedness including the local provision of testing facilities for the population of Halton. This will include the development of testing pathways alongside regional systems and national guidance. The post holder will lead on coordinating access to testing, based on local need and following national guidance to ensure that access is timely, accessible and pathways are effective and efficient. They will also work to ensure vulnerable groups have equitable and appropriate access to testing.
The post-holder will work within the Halton Outbreak Office and provide general health protection duties in response to outbreaks and preventative work, including non-Covid responsibilities as required. They will also be expected to contribute to the day-time on call service with occasional out of hours support as required.
The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in public health, ideally around the area of Health Protection, Experience in infection control and outbreak management and prevention would be beneficial. This is an interesting and dynamic time in the field of Health Protection and the ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter, able to hit the ground running and be comfortable in a home working / remote environment from the outset. Initially the role with have a strong emphasis on Covid-19 prevention, testing and outbreak response but may involve other areas of public health as need evolves.
