Team Leader - Cemeteries

Halton Borough Council’s Open Space Service is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual to supervise the operational Cemetery Team across the Borough’s burial grounds and Crematorium gardens on a permanent basis.  This will include the Authority’s cemeteries in Widnes and Runcorn, as well as a new site at Peelhouse Lane in Widnes.


To help you succeed in this role you will hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Management, with experience of leading dynamic operational teams.

Reporting to the Assistant Parks Manager (Cemeteries), your duties will include leading a small team assisting with cremations; carrying out burials; implementing horticultural maintenance schedules; cleansing the cemetery grounds; and improving woodland planting and habitat management in order to achieve our burial grounds potential for improving biodiversity within Halton.

You will have excellent communication skills; you will be confident and polite, capable of giving clear direction and instruction, and able to deal with face to face customer interactions in a sensitive and clear manner.  You will also be able to resolve complaints, escalating queries to management where necessary.
