The new Specialist Mental Health Practitioner - SEND role is an exciting opportunity to join the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) programme and lead on the development and delivery of evidence-based early intervention with a focus on supporting the complex needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their parents/carers. The role will be based within Local Authority Children’s Services, and the post holder will be expected to work across a range of schools, alongside community partners and other services.
This post is part of the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) programme which is a shared initiative between the NHS and the Department for Education.
The MHSTs are located in The Havens (the coastal strip comprising the Newhaven, Peacehaven area), South Downs (including Eastbourne, Hailsham & Seaford) and Bexhill and Rother and will support a number of schools in each area.
We are looking for a practitioner with experience of working in a setting where children who have special educational needs or disabilities and mental health issues has been the primary focus. The postholder will be working with children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues.
