Conservation Officer – 6 month FTC or 12 month FTC part time

With demonstrable knowledge of and experience in implementing legislation relating to listed buildings and conservation areas, the Conservation officer will help to create, protect and enhance the District’s environment through the provision of specialist technical advice on a variety of heritage issues.
Working as part of a busy and supportive team you will provide appropriate specialist input into the assessment of proposals and works which may affect heritage assets including listed buildings and conservation areas.
You will be capable of independent working managing a large and varied workload with minimal supervision.
You must be an excellent communicator and be able to build relationships and provide specialist technical advice to the public, developers, agents, members, other departments of the Council, and other persons and bodies as appropriate, in connection with heritage issues in writing, by telephone or in person.
It is expected that you will have gained extensive previous experience as a Conservation Officer in either the public or private sector. As part of the Councils corporate objectives you will help to create, protect and enhance the Districts environment through the provision of specialist technical advice on a variety of heritage issues.
Candidates should have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area including Conservation, Architecture, Planning or Urban Design and knowledge of and experience in, implementing legislation relating to listed buildings and conservation areas
This role will require you to be present at site visits and you must be comfortable working in various locations as well as being partly officed based. Currently you are able to work from home when covering the administrative part of this role but you must possess a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle in order to attend any site visits around Huntingdonshire as required.
