Learning & Engagement Mentor

We are now seeking a resilient and robust individual to join our fantastic team within the Inclusion Department as a Learning and Engagement Mentor.
The role involves working with small groups of children with challenging social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. These pupils may have complex emotional and behavioural needs that must be carefully managed, and experience of working with these kinds of learners would be desirable.
Ideal candidates will:
- Demonstrate an ability to be flexible in their approach
- Be able to establish meaningful positive relationships quickly
- Have a well-established range of strategies for coping with sometimes challenging situations
- Guide the pupils’ learning towards independence
- Be committed to Ark Castledown’s ethos of high expectations
- Have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils
The role will involve working alongside other support and teaching staff to provide a range of activities that will support the children's’ academic learning and allow them to build their own resilience and abilities to self-manage their emotional state and behaviour.
The work can be challenging and complex at times, but it is also highly rewarding and the successful candidate would be supported by the Inclusion Manager and Assistant Headteacher – Lead for Inclusion.

- Starting Salary: Ark Scale, Grade 4, Point 3: £18,562 pro rata;
