What’s the job?

Working as the Neighbourhood Warden you play a key role in the Council’s operational delivery of their dog welfare service and management of environmental crime.  The duties includes dealing with reports of stray dogs, promoting responsible dog ownership through community engagement, and dealing with complaints regarding the enforcement of dog fouling throughout the district.  This work will also be supplemented by assisting the Council’s Enforcement team with the investigation of fly-tipping incidents and other enforcement activities.

The work will be challenging, interesting and varied. You will be engaging with the public and businesses, educating, advising and ensuring compliance with current and emerging legislation.

Who are we looking for?

You’ll need great people skills, have a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organisation and external bodies.

Ideally, we are looking for a person with experience of handling and dealing with dogs in some capacity or working in animal welfare.

A person who has knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidance relating to animal health and enforcement procedures is desirable.
