Wyre Council is looking for a Housing Options Advisor to work within our busy Housing Options Team. The positions are fixed term contracts for a period of two years.
Based at our offices in Poulton-le-Fylde you will provide customers with comprehensive housing advice and assistance, including information on their housing options to help prevent homelessness wherever possible. This will include helping people to find or maintain accommodation in both the private and social sectors.
With a good working knowledge of housing law, including homelessness legislation and good practice you will be responsible for dealing with statutory homeless applications and undertaking homeless investigations.
You will need to be well organised with excellent communication and interviewing skills. You will be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team – and have the commitment, drive and willingness to work under pressure with a varied workload. You will be capable of dealing sensitively with the needs of our clients.
The post holder will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service paid for by the employer.
