What does the night service do?

·        Ensure there is access to home care during the night, particularly in the first few days after discharge, this is an important component in supporting as many people as possible to return home when they are medically fit to do so from hospital.

·        Care during the night can also play an important role in achieving the Care Act requirement to promote wellbeing, and help people achieve the outcomes that matter to them in their life.  The Service is empowered to work with the person to make changes to meet their needs and achieve the outcomes most important to them.  It is also recognised that circumstances change; if new equipment or assistive technology permits the intrusion of a night visit to be prevented, this opportunity will always be explored.

·        Night care also provides an opportunity to promote the wellbeing of those with caring responsibilities.  Providing care for a loved one in their own home at night can give a carer a break, knowing that their relative is receiving the care they require for example to get a good night’s sleep, and prevent a crisis developing, without the need for a potentially disruptive or costly placement in a residential setting.

Anyone applying for this role must have the minimum qualifications required as per the attached job profile e.g. a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area or willingness to undertake and achieve within an agreed timescale.
