The Service Manager Provider Services is an important post in Children’s Social Care and is responsible for ensuring that our children in care can thrive in loving caring households.
The person in this post needs to have a good understanding of child legislation pertaining to children in care, Adoption, Fostering and have a good understanding in all aspects regarding placement sufficiency. They should also have a good understanding of child protection, child safeguarding procedures, legal procedures and policies and processes relating to Working Together to Safeguard Children and the Children Act 1989.
The person must be a qualified social worker, registered with Social Work England and have management experience in children in care services particularly Fostering and Adoption. The person will have good knowledge in social work practice and be able to demonstrate what good social work looks like.
The person will have experience of being involved, as a manger, in Ofsted inspections and understand the process fully and will know how to prepare staff for an Ofsted inspection.
The person will have an excellent understanding of performance data relating to children in care services, be able to analyses data, to understand and predict trends, and most importantly understand the link between performance data and good outcomes for children.
The person will have excellent communication and written skills and be able to demonstrate working in partnership with a whole range of other professionals in order to ensure good outcomes for children.
The new person will be responsible for:
Fostering Service – The oversight and management of fostering team and development of the recruitment, training and support of foster carers.
Adoption Service – The oversight and management of the Adoption service – from January 1st 2021 in partnership with the regional adoption agency.
Placement Team – Overseeing the placement sufficiency strategy and ensuring we have sufficient placements to meet the needs of our children in care
Children’s Respite Service – Line Management responsibility for our residential respite service.
The person will need to evidence that they have had experience of managing people as they will be required to manage 3 service managers.
