About the role

Specialist Support Service Team Leader

A Team Leader is required for a specialised support service in East Sussex. The service has been created to support a young man with autism and behaviour that challenges to live in his family home and be part of a well-supported loving family as well as having daily opportunities to live his own life with skilled support.

The service is designed to:

-           enhance the quality of life of the young man and ensure that he regularly engages in meaningful activities and relationships

-           support him to develop friendships and have daily access to and participate in activities in his own community which promote his physical and mental health and emotional well-being

-           improve the young person’s ability to make simple everyday choices and promote his right to have control and involvement in all decisions which affect his life

-           embrace a person-centred approach to supporting the young man by fully utilising the skills and experience of his existing support network and subsequently minimising behaviours that challenge.

As the successful Team Leader, you will work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled professionals, have the support of the Service Manager and benefit from regular clinical supervision. You will have the opportunity to further develop an existing service and lead, support and supervise a small team of specialist support workers. You will adopt the role of Practice Leader to ensure that Positive Behaviour Support and appropriate communication strategies are consistently embedded throughout the young man’s day. You will proactively and dynamically assess and manage risks and challenges, to ensure that there are opportunities for the young man to have new experiences in and around his home and in his local community.

You will have excellent communication skills, be very resilient and respond positively to challenges and change. You will be well supported by the young man’s family and his professional network and will be encouraged to bring your dynamism, skills and expertise to this service.
