In 2016, we created Sussex Weald Homes, a wholly owned Housing Company. As well as leading a full range of housing services, this senior management role encompasses the Chief Operating Officer role for the Company.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and commercially focussed individual to lead this diverse team of over 80 staff in housing options, housing development, housing management and property maintenance. You will lead on Sussex Weald Homes’ business activity, focus on achieving our climate change aspirations within housing, and develop and implement a refreshed Housing Revenue Account Business Plan. You will need to demonstrate a commercial mind-set, strong financial skills and experience of commercial development in addition to considerable experience as a senior Housing professional. With a relevant degree and/or a professional qualification, you will provide technical expertise and have comprehensive knowledge of Local Government and best practice in housing.
You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to represent the Council and Sussex Weald Homes at the highest level. In addition, you must be pro-active, innovative, self-motivated and have evidence of producing cost-effective solutions and results to tight timescales.
You will need to demonstrate good political awareness and have significant experience of working with Councillors and/or similar Board level colleagues.
