Here at Halton we are looking for an enthusiastic, positive person to join the Children in Care and Care Leavers Team as an Adoption Social Worker.

The team is responsible for ensuring that all children in care and care leavers are supported to achieve positive outcomes and support them in planning to build their lives as young adults ready to leave care and live independently. The team is also responsible for finding permanent families for those children who cannot live within their birth family.

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker who has a good understanding and knowledge of relevant adoption regulations and legislation. Within your role you will be working closely with other professionals to support children whose plan is adoption to find forever families. Your main priority will be to progress and implement the plans for adoption by searching and identifying suitable families, attending Adoption Panel, supporting the child and prospective adopters and completing all statutory duties until an Adoption Order is granted.

You will work closely with Together for Adoption which is a Regional Adoption Agency hosted by Wigan Borough Council and based in Warrington. Together for Adoption provides adoptions services across Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan Borough Council.

Within this role, you may also be required to work with children and young people whose plan is to remain in long term care. This will include completing all statutory responsibilities to ensure that children and young people have the opportunities to achieve and to be happy and safe.

If you have real drive and ambition and are professionally qualified with substantial post qualifying experience and feel that you have the skills then we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have high personal standards of self-discipline, be able to demonstrate a flexible and organised approach to their work and be able to communicate effectively with a range of professionals. They will have proven experience of successful Family Finding or Adoption work and the supporting Adoption regulations. In addition, this post is subject to Enhanced DBS Disclosure and registration with Social Work England.
