We are seeking an enthusiastic motivated individual, who can deal sensitively with a range of customers, who responds well to working within the community, enjoys working with the public and who can demonstrate a real commitment to providing excellent customer care and top quality service.
You must be an effective communicator and confident negotiator in order to deliver extremely challenging rent collection targets. You will be responsible for maximization of income collection and arrears reduction for former tenant accounts in addition to providing administrative support to the current Income Management Team.
- To collect, manage, and monitor former tenant arrears, garage arrears and other sundry charges, liaising with current and former tenants to negotiate affordable re-payment agreements.
- To keep timely and accurate records always, and to ensure service requests are responded to within the prescribed timescales.
- To assist customers in debt or financial hardship, using a triage approach to identify solutions and make referrals to advice agencies as appropriate.
- To provide administrative support to the Income Management Team, dealing with Credits, Debt Release Orders, Write Offs, Garages, Tenancy Administration, and Direct Debits.
Previous experience is desired, as is a good working knowledge of database systems, and account management, welfare benefits and debt advice services.
This post is permanent. The hours of this post are 37 hours per week working Monday to Friday. The Council operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme that applies to this post. This post is usually based at Palatine Hall, but due to Covid-19 restrictions you will be working from home.
Earlier last year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
