About the role

The Southfield Trust is seeking to appoint classroom based teaching assistants for The South Downs School to undertake learning support duties and assist the class teacher in the day to day needs of the pupils. Teaching assistants are also expected to support the teacher with the delivery of the curriculum and respond to the pupils’ needs enabling them to make rapid progress. Pupils may have speech and language needs, autism or learning difficulties. Some students also have associated emotional/ behavioural difficulties.

The Southfield Multi Academy Trust consists of three exceptional special schools – The South Downs School, The Lindfield School and Hazel Court School, which provide the best possible educational opportunities for all its learners and their families. The Trust is also currently in an exciting phase of development including the opening of a new Free School.

You will work alongside a friendly and supportive staff team at The South Downs School who have a wealth of expertise and are committed to the continuing professional development of all staff – offering a strong programme of in school training.  Candidates should be aware you may be asked to work on any one of The Southfield Trust's school sites if required. As this post is part time the salary will be paid at a pro rata rate.  The actual salary will be £12,888 per annum.
