About the role

The Weald Federation (Five Ashes, Frant, Mayfield and Mark Cross Primary Schools) require an experienced Clerk to Governors for the Federation Governing Board to:

  • Provide professional advice to the governing board on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. The 2013 regulations require governing bodies to have regard to advice from the clerk in regards to exercising the governing board functions.
  • Provide effective administrative support to the governing board and its committees including minute taking and convening meetings.
  • Ensure the governing board is properly constituted.
  • Manage all governing board information effectively in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Provide support to the governing board in order to meet all of its statutory duties

The Weald Federation was formed in September 2019 with the amalgamation of Saxonbury (Frant and Mark Cross) and Aspire (Mayfield and Five Ashes) Federations.  The school, with one central Governing Board, are working together to enhance both the academic and pastoral opportunities for the pupils.  The larger federation also offers staff a wide variety of CPD and career progression opportunities.
