We are looking to recruit two experienced and qualified Environmental Health Officers to join our small dynamic team. You will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills as well as sound judgement and knowledge of relevant legislation.
This post is an integral part of the Food and Safety Team, working within Environmental Services.
A key aspect of the role will be to support the work around COVID-19 which will include inspection of premises to ensure they are COVID compliant and also contribution to outbreak management.
You will also carry out food hygiene inspections plus complaint and infectious disease investigations, participate in sampling and undertake some port health work: Taking appropriate enforcement action where required. Providing advice and guidance to our businesses will form an integral part of your work.
Due to the nature of this role, you will carry-out a range of interventions at a variety of workplaces, under health and safety at work legislation, including the investigation of complaints, accidents and dangerous occurrences. In addition to this you will also be involved in other areas of work which includes skin piercing, tattooing, acupuncture and electrolysis registration.
You will support the delivery of the team’s work, including assisting other officers within the department and other associated environmental health matters; including the preparation of any necessary reports, legal notices and briefing notes.
You will be required to produce prosecution files for offences, as appropriate, and give evidence in court when requested.
You must hold a full driving license and will require your own vehicle for business use.

Applicants for this post must hold/have the following:
- MSc, BSc (Hons) degree or diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHORB)
- Recent, relevant, post-qualification regulatory experience within a local authority, including food hygiene inspections, interventions and investigations
