St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short it is a great place to live and work.
You will be part of two important teams. Digital Services are responsible for printing, processing incoming and outgoing post, scanning and indexing of a wide range of documents. This will include both paper and electronic documents. The Electoral Services team ensures that all residents in St Albans City and District are registered to vote and organise all elections in the district.
We need someone who can process documents and applications to register to vote efficiently, securely and effectively. Experience in Electoral Services work would be advantageous, but relevant training will be provided. Being responsible for meeting quality standards and deadlines, a quick keen eye for detail will be the key to success. You will be dealing with a wide range of internal and external customers daily, which requires a professional, responsive approach whilst remaining calm under pressure. The role will be a mix of desk based and physical work and the ideal post holder will be comfortable with both.
Normal working pattern will be five days per week – 9am to 2.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 2pm Friday. You should also be available to work additional hours at election time from mid-March to mid-May where there will be some flexibility in adjustments to the normal working hours.
We offer a competitive package which also includes up to 25.5 days annual leave, pension scheme, reimbursement of professional fees, access to parking, training and development opportunities, flexible working options (including homeworking), leisure and travel discounts and a number of other benefits.
