COVID-19 Support Advisor

Our Public health work is broad ranging and our team helps to improve population health & wellbeing and to support people to help themselves. Public health work is constantly evolving in response to the needs of communities. There has never been a more important time to join us in Barnsley to help us to manage the impacts of COVID-19 and make Barnsley a safer place to live and work. Our award-winning Council is on an exciting journey of change. It’s all about putting local people at the heart of everything, listening to, and working with our local communities. That’s what matters at Barnsley Council.

We are looking for committed, experienced and understanding advisors to help us communicate with the public about the key COVID-19 messages and make contact with people who need support locally.  As our Council continues to manage and respond to the impacts of COVID-19, you’ll provide vital skills and knowledge within our Public Health team working with colleagues across the Council.

Your role in our journey

As a COVID-19 advisor, you will be a key part of our local COVID-19 support service, delivering a high quality, efficient and effective customer focused service, whilst adopting a digital first approach. Your scope of work will include contacting people affected by COVID-19 to ensure that they can self-isolate safely, follow up welfare support needs and provide advice & guidance.   You will also contribute other elements of the Covid19 Support service to help prevent further outbreaks, including licensed venue support and workplace risk assessment work. You will be required to work flexible hours on a rota with weekend working.

Shape a better future with us

We’re thrilled to have achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold status for how we lead, support and develop people. Now we’d like you to be part of our success and help us take change further. Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.
