Sheltered Housing Manager
£29,577 - £32,234
Town Hall, Exmouth
Full time – 37 hours per week
East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy. Our ambition is to be an outstanding council which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Housing Service for a strong leader to provide day to day management and delivery of our Sheltered Housing service. Supporting an established team of officers, you’ll provide effective leadership and assist the team to provide a high quality service to our residents. This will include ensuring that tenancy compliance issues are dealt with, and carrying out new tenancy visits and a variety of safety checks.
In this interesting and varied role, you’ll also investigate and resolve complaints relating to low level nuisance, estate and community management of our sheltered housing schemes and ensure that Adult safeguarding referrals are made and handled correctly.
With a good standard of education and ideally a relevant qualification in housing, you’ll have a knowledge of current issues in housing and local government and excellent IT skills. You’ll also need to have a good understanding of all aspects of the housing service and experience of supporting a Sheltered Housing Scheme (or similar scheme) would be an advantage.
Experience of managing a team is essential and experience of managing a remote team would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to effectively prioritise your own workload and remain calm under pressure.
A driving licence is essential to this role as regular travel throughout East Devon will be required (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act).
