This post is in the first instance a temporary post ending in March 2021. It is hoped that the post will become permanent in April 2021 but this is not guaranteed.

About the role
The Extended Adolescent Service works with young people 11-18 who are at risk of CSE, CEE and becoming looked after. Many of the young people we work with have experienced developmental trauma and disrupted attachments, the development of a secure trusting relationship is a key aspect of our work. Work is mainly done with individual young people but can also involve work with siblings and families. Each intervention is designed to match to the young person’s specific needs, so the work is varied and creative. We provide a flexible needs lead, assertive outreach service which means some out of hours working and the provision of a limited on-call duty rota at weekends.
As part of the Families, Children & Learning directorate, we support a relationship based and whole family approach to the work, whilst respecting service-user confidentiality. We work closely with partner agencies, most notably Social Work, Youth Offending, Functional Family Therapy, Well-being Services and Schools, to identify and meet children & young people's needs.
The Advanced Practitioner will have a relevant professional qualification, substantial experience of working with adolescents, including experience and knowledge of risk assessment, safeguarding procedures and child development and at least two years’ experience of working with young people at high risk of criminal and sexual exploitation. The post holder will take a lead on much of the day to day operational work of the team, manage referrals and provide supervision to members of the team. You will deliver training across the city and within the service and will have access to the council's comprehensive learning and development offer.
