Following recent service developments an opportunity has arisen to recruit to two new Adult Social Care Workers to the Single Point of Access (SPA) team in North Somerset Council.
The SPA team is the initial contact point for adults in North Somerset in need of social care support and advice. The service is mainly telephone based and provides a timely response for a variety of needs. There is also an option of face to face clinic appointments based at our purposed built Equipment and Demonstration Centre in Weston-super-Mare and a developing clinic offer for the north of the area, in Clevedon. SPA services and support provided include: social care advice and access to care services for help at home or in a care home facility, occupational therapy advice, assessment and equipment provision to maximise day to day independence, assessment of carers needs and provision of support and services to enable carers to continue to care, and clinical Occupational Therapy support for assessment of Blue Badge applications.
The new positions sit in the Carers Assessment Service, within the SPA team, which focuses on carrying out the duties of North Somerset Council under the Care Act 2014 to assess carer’s needs related to their caring role, and to discuss how those needs may be met. We are looking for individuals with good time-managements skills who can work in a fast-paced environment to make sound, evidence-based decisions to meet a carer’s needs efficiently and effectively.
You should have knowledge of social care and issues facing informal carers, and of the legislation determining the Local Authority duties around care assessments and provision. Your values should be based in maximising independence for individuals and providing effective carer support to facilitate this. You should be clear in the application of legislation to ensure a fair provision of support and facility to enable people to access their communities and support networks.
Having recently been brought back in-house, the Carers Assessment Service is in its early stage of development. Successful applicants will find an exciting opportunity to be involved in developing this service.
The service has adopted a remote working approach due to the current covid19 pandemic. This will be under review as the national restrictions around the covid19 are relaxed.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
