What is the purpose of Adult Social Care?

PRRT is a multi-disciplinary team which provides short-term community based intermediate care, rehabilitation and reablement to adults and older people in Portsmouth City during the hours of 7am – 10pm over seven days, to promote independence and to improve quality of life.
In this post you will have direct line management responsibility for the Social Care staff within the team, equipping them to make effective decisions and to be professionally resilient. You will enable the team to ensure safe and effective outcomes for customers, whilst maintaining senior responsibility across the whole team. You will lead a culture of critically reflective supervision and development pathways, providing guidance, support and advice to staff. You will manage individual performance within the appropriate human resources frameworks and formulate plans in line with PCC’s business plan and PRRT’s Standard Operating Procedure. You will support a learning culture, with responsibility for the learning and development needs and encourage practitioners’ autonomy and independence in making accountable decisions.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need to be passionate about putting the customer at the heart of what you do and understanding the needs of the client group. You will need to hold a professional qualification in social work or occupational therapy, with the relevant professional registration, as well as experience working in a health and social care setting. For this post, you will need thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of rehabilitation. You should be highly skilled, experienced, motivated and committed to learning, as well as being a strong and resilient leader. You should have excellent interpersonal and reflection skills, and be able to support practitioners to apply theory to practice, as well as being fully conversant with all relevant legislation.
