Role Purpose

At the London Borough of Tower Hamlets we are transformingthe way we work, looking for innovative ways and new opportunities to improveoutcomes for our local communities. We are looking for experienced publichealth analysts to help us do this as part of our corporate intelligence andperformance team. In this role you will be producing high quality research andintelligence on a range of Public Health topics, to help shape our commissioningand service planning.

We currently have the following vacancies:

  • A role that has aparticular focus on adults with the post-holder working closely with seniormanagers in the public health division and more broadly with partners across ourlocal health and care system. This post is subject to an organisational review expected to be implemented in April 2021. Appointment will be on the basis of a fixed term contract, which will end when the post is deleted and no later than 30 June 2021.
  • A role with a particular focus on children and families, with the post holder working closely with our Healthy Families team in Public Health as well as services across our Children and Culture directorate. This post is Maternity cover and subject to an organisational review expected to be implemented in April 2021. Appointment will be on the basis of a fixed term contract, which will end when the post is deleted and no later than 31st July 2021.
In line with current government guidance, both these posts will be home-based until further notice. Applicants should note that this may change in the future. Successful applicants will be required to attend the office for induction purposes and to collect equipment. Travel costs to the office will not be reimbursed Details of how to apply follow. Key Responsibilities

For both roles:

  • Manage and quality-assure the production ofneeds assessments and analytical products for the Public Health directorate tosupport strategic planning and commissioning.

  • Manage the research, collation, capture, storageand publication of evidence and datasets to support strategic planning anddecision-making within Public Health and across the local health and caresystem.

  • Lead on service review and improvement projectswithin Public Health and either the Health, Adults and Communities directorate or the Children and Culture directorate, challengingand supporting services to improve outcomes and aim for the best.

  • Ensure that evidence and data is joined up andshared to support better planning and decision making. The post-holder will berequired to liaise with colleagues across the authority and within partnerorganisations in order to ensure that data and intelligence are shared widelyand efficiently to support more effective decision-making.

  • Work with Public Health and the respective directorates; (Health, Adults and Communities or Children and Culture) to design key performance indicators that reflectpriority outcomes and build the necessary systems and processes to capture andreport against these.

  • Line management responsibility for anIntelligence and Performance Officer who supports the directorate.



Requirements

For both roles, you need to be a self-starter. The post-holders will need to be proactive,possess excellent stakeholder management skills, the ability to work onmulti-disciplinary project teams and to manage staff. In addition to publichealth intelligence, the roles will also involve analytical work to supportintegration of health and social care. The post-holders will need an excellentunderstanding of information governance and data protection legal requirements.The successful applicants will have proven experience of developing analyticalproducts, writing public health related performance and intelligence reportsand presenting to a range of audiences.

A standard DBS check is required for these roles.
