PLANNING & REGENERATION
PLANNING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Grade E - £23,541 to £27,041
37 Hours Per Week
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the Development Management Team where you will be responsible for investigating complaints about alleged unauthorised development. You will be required to collate and assess evidence from a variety of sources, including the Council’s records and from your own site inspections and take appropriate action based on your findings. Where negotiation is unable to secure a satisfactory outcome, you will need to prepare reports recommending formal Enforcement Action. You may then be required to give evidence at appeals or in court.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with an aptitude for problem solving. The post requires excellent organisation and negotiation skills, and you will need to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers and an aptitude for maintaining and reviewing detailed records. You will need to be assertive at times, have sound communication skills and the ability to explain clearly the details of planning legislation to a varied customer base. You will frequently need to work on your own initiative both in the office and on sites throughout the Borough. An ability to interpret, understand and explain plans and technical drawings is essential.
Ideally you will have knowledge of the planning system and will have worked in a similar role.
We offer a range of benefits such as flexible working, free parking across the borough, a car user allowance, access to a contributory local government pension scheme and subsidised gym membership.
Closing date for applications is 19th October 2020.
