We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to take up the Business Support Co-ordinator role in the Information Governance team in the Adult Social Care service.
The team itself covers a range of functions to ensure the service is compliant with its legal responsibilities to share and protect information. This includes the provision of specialist advice/training to staff on using information in a care setting, the processing of legal requests from the public in line with Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts and the drafting of agreements for sharing information between the agencies and organisations delivering health and social care across Surrey and its borders.
The post advertised is the first point of contact for the team and therefore a 9am-5pm role with a key requirement to support and co-ordinate the work-flow through the team. This will include triaging all enquiries received to ensure they are processed in line with the teams policies and processes.
Some of the key accountabilities the role has are therefore:
- Setting up, directing and processing legal requests for information submitted to the team made under Data Protection legislation, the Freedom of Information Act and other legal provisions relevant to the service (e.g. Police Enquiries).
- Liaising directly organisations to process requests where relevant made, for Continuing Healthcare and LEDER reviews.
- Supporting teams qualified staff in producing and delivering training plans and material for use across the Adult Social Care service.
- Engaging with partners across the Health and Social Care sector to set up, and the drafting and establishing of, information sharing agreements across the County.
Successful applicants will therefore be required to be approachable, with an excellent telephone manner and have a calm and organised working style to support the teams work.
Applicants should also be aware that the work coming in to the team varies as with the work of all Information Governance teams, and can involve a significant level of file extraction from electronic records and information preparing through printing and photocopying.
A ‘can do’ attitude and sound IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel/Word and a past experience of using databases, are therefore essential.
