If you are interested in Planning and would like to work as part of a busy team, this post will give you a good understanding of the planning process. You will undertake general administrative work including dealing with incoming and outgoing post and emails; scanning and indexing of documents; checking and redacting scanned documents for personal information and processing committee reports and planning decisions. Some applications will need to be advertised in the local press so you will liaise with the advertising company and check the draft adverts for correctness prior to publication in the press.
Due to COVID19, all Council staff are currently working at home and only visiting the office in limited circumstances. This includes business critical needs for the ongoing operation of certain services of which this post is key. Subject to full training, you will be part of the staff rota visiting the office to undertake key admin and support tasks. Our offices are COVID secure with regularly updated risk assessment.
Previous experience of working within a planning department, Local government or similar office environment would be ideal. Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office and Adobe) are required, together with a good standard of education (A level or equivalent preferred), and excellent communication and customer service skills. This role involves regular telephone contact with the public, requiring fluent spoken English.
