We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative individual for the temporary additional post of Senior Housing Options Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team who are responsible for carrying out the local authority’s statutory homelessness duties and support the COVID-19 response in Newark and Sherwood.
You will be committed to preventing homelessness through early intervention, working with other organisations to improve outcomes for those at risk of homelessness, contributing to the Council’s strategic priorities to improve health and wellbeing and create resilient communities. You will also be responsible for the management of the council’s temporary accommodation provision and a valued member on the project team responsible for the development of an exciting new scheme in Newark.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant experience of working in a housing/homelessness environment and have excellent working knowledge of homelessness legislation including the Homeless Reduction Act 2017. You should have experience of giving housing advice, have excellent communication skills and previous experience of working in a customer-orientated environment.
You will have experience of managing a team, supporting with team development and case supervision so you must be an active team player with a high degree of self-motivation, an ability to remain calm in difficult situations and maintain a diplomatic approach that is sensitive to the customers’ needs. You must also be able to prioritise your workload and meet required deadlines.
