About the role
Join our innovative and award-winning team (our awards include – LGCA, Social Work Employer and Social Worker of the Year 2017) and play a crucial role at the highest performing authority for Children’s Services in the South East. We were rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in our July 2018 inspection. If you want to achieve the best outcomes for young people, East Sussex is the place to be!
At the forefront of our success is the work of our Fostering Service which has consistently placed more children with in-house foster carers than our neighbouring authorities. We’ve achieved this by recognising the value of our LAC service and by delivering excellent integrated support. As a result, we have an enviable reputation for retention because our foster carers value the support, experience and knowledge we provide to the children in their care and to them.
How do we know we’re making a difference? Because that’s what young people and carers tell us.
About the roles
Our Fostering Service delivers forward-thinking initiatives underpinned by national policy, so we’re looking for people who can help us take our service to the next level. Our approach is to deliver high impact social work which results in more children living with their families and less child protection plans. We currently have vacancies in both Assessment and Recruitment and our Supported Lodgings Team.
Recruitment and Assessment Team
Join our Assessment and Recruitment Team and you will be supporting the recruitment of all our carers. Your role is to ensure that we approve good quality and appropriate carers who can provide children with a safe, caring environment, which minimises moves and which enables them to reach their full potential.
You will be following-up enquiries, attending information events, completing screening calls and initial visits, facilitating preparation training and assessing prospective foster carers, presenting an evidence-based and analytical report to the fostering panel.
About the Role
Working with ESCC
You’ll be working in a progressive committed and learning environment where practitioners are supported and valued. We look for ambitious, creative and professionally-curious individuals who want to make a difference. We always welcome applications from qualified individuals looking to return to social work through our specially-designed programme.
Our progressive approach has resulted in us developing ‘Connected Practice’; allowing social workers to forge effective relationships, spending as much time as possible with the child and family whilst delivering sophisticated interventions which bring about genuine and long lasting change.
We know it can be a demanding job so we believe in nurturing our staff by providing a genuinely supportive environment. And, in our increasingly digitally-dynamic organisation, we’ll equip you with a smart phone and tablet.
Our Social Work Academy will support your career progression and development. With your manager you will be encouraged to identify development goals that satisfy your ambitions and meet our needs. We provide intensive support through the Academy’s extensive ASYE programme, making sure you have the right knowledge and skills to really make a difference with our most vulnerable families.
