In this context, Lancaster City Council is pleased to offer a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to start their town planning career in the Council’s Development Management Team.
Statistically one of the highest performing planning application teams in the country.
The postholder will gain valuable experience of determining householder and minor planning applications throughout the Lancaster District.
Whilst previous planning experience is not necessary, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, a willingness to learn about all aspects of the planning system, and a keen eye for detail. Above all else they will be passionate about good-quality design and placemaking.
Candidates may be working towards completing an undergraduate qualification or possess similar equivalent qualifications.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to undertake site visits across the District.
The post is based at Morecambe Town Hall, although current COVID-19 home working arrangements are in force. The hours for this role are 37 hours per week working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. This post is permanent.
Earlier last year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
