About the role

Could you give 2 hours a week to provide a listening ear to unpaid carers?

Care for the Carers is seeking to recruit a team of volunteers to make telephone calls to isolated unpaid carers as part of its ‘Carers in Touch’ listening service.

‘Carers in Touch’ Listening Service Volunteers

The purpose of this voluntary role is to check in with identified carers, keeping them connected, reminding them that they are not alone, and reducing social isolation. Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, a non-judgemental approach, and want to make a difference for local carers.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one 2-hour shift each week, between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Full training and support will be provided.

At present the post will be home-based with remote support, although there maybe opportunities to be based at our offices in Eastbourne in the future.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 28 September 2020. Interviews will be held on Monday 5 October and Friday 9 October 2020, and induction training will take place on Monday 2 & Tuesday 3 November (1/2 days) and Wednesday 11 November (full day).

You can download an application form and additional information from Care for the Carers website www.cftc.org.uk/make-a-difference/volunteer/volunteer-opportunities/

Completed applications should be emailed to Tracey Luker, Volunteer Coordinator, at traceyl@cftc.org.uk

As an organisation we are particularly keen to ensure that our volunteers reflect the diverse nature of the community in which we work.  We value diversity and warmly welcome applications from disabled people, the LGBTQ+ communities and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
