This role is a fixed term (funding limited project) position until the end of March 2021.
The Procurement Officer will work within the Commissioning Team to support the delivery of the Councils Procurement Strategy. This will involve working alongside Category Managers to deliver tenders across a broad range of technical specialties, with an initial focus on IT procurements. The post holder will be expected to work closely with service areas to design procurement strategies, seek appropriate governance and then deliver the required outcomes through a tendered solution (where appropriate).
Working closely with the Service Manager (Procurement, Commissioning & Placements), the post holder will gain exposure to a variety of newly identified tenders and will have significant opportunity to drive efficiencies for the Council. This role is critical in the delivery of the Councils Procurement Strategy.
The post holder will need to have experience of delivering a range of procurements (spot purchase through to OJEU tenders) in an public sector environment, with suitable qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
