Child Care Officer to work flexible shifts with a 24 hour rota, including evenings and weekends with children who have learning difficulties/disabilities. A full induction and ongoing supervision and training will be provided.
We are looking for a full time staff member to join our team, working with the children, who receive short breaks within our range of services. You will be experienced and have a good understanding of the needs of children with learning difficulties/disabilities, some of whom may at times display challenging behaviour, and be knowledgeable about the issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will receive a full and comprehensive training programme as part of your induction, and ongoing training and supervision. You are required to be trained to Residential Childcare (NVQ) level 3 or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this.
About the role: As a Child Care Officer you will have identified roles and responsibilities that contribute to the continued development of the children and the smooth and effective running of our centre. You will act as link worker and ensure that the children’s views and wishes are listened to and, together with information form their families and other agencies, reflected in their Care Plans. You will provide a key caring and supporting role, working regular morning, evenings, weekends and school holidays, sleep-in duties and at times being able to provide annual leave or sickness cover, within a 24 hour rota. There may also be opportunities to work the occasional night duty, however additional shifts, are not guaranteed.
About Bridges and our other Short Breaks Services: Bridges is a 5 bed Resource Centre, based in Woodley. We provide high quality care and support for children with learning difficulties/disabilities and their families.
